I am a qualified psychotherapist working with clients online across the UK and Denmark.
I approach all of my client work from a person centred base, which is deeply honouring of your experiences and understanding of the world. I seek to meet you exactly where you are, and work alongside you relationally to help make sense of your inner world, and move towards a place of personal growth and lasting therapeutic change.
Along the way we may use therapeutic tools from different psychological models - such as Transactional Analysis, CBT and Internal Family Systems - to help you through your journey in therapy, but the core of my approach will be in providing you with the core conditions to create a safe space to explore whatever you need to, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Whilst completing my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling I worked across a number of different therapeutic settings, including school, charity and EAP (Employer Assistance Programmes). It has been both a privilege and a rich development opportunity to work with so many different client groups and presenting issues, and I take this experience with me into my private practice.
During our time together our therapeutic relationship will not be secondary to ‘the work’ of counselling; in many ways it is the work. What happens in the here and now of our sessions will so often reflect patterns of relating outside of the counselling room. For this reason, I believe it is crucial to have a relationship of mutuality. I will always seek to be authentic, and genuine with you, offering you a ‘real’ person to relate to, rather than the traditional view we have of therapists. My experience of this is that sessions can be agile, creative, and on occasions, even enjoyable. Laughter is surprisingly, an important aspect of my practice.
I am passionate about having a diverse and inclusive practice, and continue to work hard to provide the conditions required to enable me to honour and respect all of my clients, whatever their story, background, or experience.
I am a full member of the following organisations, and adhere to their ethical principles and guidelines for practice:
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
Dansk psykoterapeutforeningen (DPF)
